About the Instructors
Alex Zaphiris, MD, MS practices Integrative Family Medicine in Noe Valley, San Francisco. Through bridging together the best of evidence-based western medicine and integrative modes of healing, she helps patients with a wide variety of concerns including: wellness physicals, weight loss, depression/anxiety, cardiovascular issues and musculoskeletal injuries.
Outside of clinical practice and academic medicine, she enjoys bicycling around SF, participating in the SF Bicycle Coalition and supporting restaurants which serve healthy local food.
Avril Swan, MD, has been practicing medicine in California since 2000 and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She graduated from Mayo Medical School and completed her residency at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Swan joined Dr. Miller in 2003 and since that time has developed her interest in integrating traditional western medicine with alternative modalities. She has completed education in nutrition, primary care homeopathy, and most recently the Helms physician acupuncture training program affiliated with the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine.
